Valentine’s Day Goodies

Well, it’s February.  The month of love.  Valentine’s Day is right around the corner.  Have you thought of what you are going to do for your loved ones?  I have!  I am super excited about it too!  Some of you may think that Valentine’s Day is just a Hallmark holiday, and that is just fine.  Heck, some of you may boycott Valentine’s Day.  To each their own.  I happen to love it.

I know this is a little “controversial” but oh well.  I have seen the open letters on Facebook about the moms who do “too much” for their children.  I have been accused of doing the same.  I have actually been called out about it.  The moms (or dads) that set this standard up for the other kids who’s parents do not do what we do for their kids.  How dare I do awesome things with my Elf on the Shelf or make a leprechaun come to my house on St. Patrick’s Day.  My kids go to school and talk about it with their friends and those friends go home and talk to their parents about it.  Then those parents are upset because they did not do those things with their kids.  Guess what…. that is not my problem.  I do not harp on you for how you raise your children or what you do or do not do for them, and I expect the same respect back.

There aren’t enough days in the year to show how much you care for your kids or your spouse or significant other.  I will go above and beyond on the “Hallmark” holidays or around Christmas or whenever I want to, because I can!  Guess what….the leprechaun had been coming to my house since my daughter was young and before Facebook!  I did these things for her, not for show, but because I want a little magic to happen in our home.  Children are only little for such a short period of time.  There are only so many years you can get away with these things.  I want them to feel special and be amazed at what happened.  I am creating memories for them that will last a lifetime.  I want them to grow up and want to do these things for my future grandchildren.   In fact, my daughter is almost 16 years old…and I still do cute stuff for her, and I doubt I will ever stop no matter how old she gets.

So for this Valentine’s Day, I decided I’m going to do a bunch of cute handmade stuff.  A ton of little valentines for my kids and husband.  I went to the craft store and even the dollar store and picked up some Valentine’s paper and hearts and tape.  I am so ready to get this started.  I love making my family feel truly loved!  That is why I love Valentine’s Day.  It is another day of the year to tell your loved ones how much you love them.  There aren’t enough of those days each year.  When life gets busy, and you are pulled in each direction with sports and school and work, take a little time this February 14 and tell your family how much you love them!  Subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss out on any cute ideas!!

Stay Sweet~

Amanda
